The Pallet Saw System is designed for the automatic dismantling of used pallets and the recovery of reusable pallet components, and utilizes ‘accurate-within-millimeters’ vision to identify key cuts needed.
The Problem
Recycling companies manage a large volume of wood pallets in various states. When the pallets are fully intact, they can be immediatelyrecirculated to their customers. When there is damage, or only parts of the pallet can be re-used, the pallets need to be partially dismantled and sorted for repair. This is a high-volume business!
The European Federation of Wooden Pallet and Packaging Manufacturers estimates there are over 3 billion wood pallets in circulation in the European Union. Pallet recycling companies need a way to automate and speed up the repair and recovery process in order to make this cost effective and efficient.
Wood pallet dismantling is ripe for automation with advanced vision. Why?

The Solution
Enter the Pallet Saw System from Pallet Sorting Systems (PSS) with Fizyr OS advanced vision. Pallets of different sizes, with different layers and configurations are coming into the system, identified as requiring some dismantling and repair before they can be re-used.
Fizyr OS advanced vision identifies the precise, millimeter-level cuts necessary to cleanly remove wood that . This could not be achieved with old school ‘smart vision’, a more flexible, precise solution was needed.
The robot adjusts the pallet positioning and passes it through the industrial bandsaw.
The result: Unusable parts removed, and what remains of the pallet can be repaired, recycled and put back into circulation.
Fizyr OS advanced vision AI system relies on machine learning to adapt to new pallet configurations, dismantling tasks and variations with an efficient and adaptable approach.
